After a certain range, usually around 10 Meters, the damage drops off until it reaches the minimum amount of damage.
Only Shotguns will reach 0 damage based on range. In Normal games, a player has health. You can see the health percentage displayed on the HUD.
In Hardcore mode, health is Unlike Normal games, the health percentage is not shown on the HUD. In Normal mode, health will regenerate 16 seconds after taking damage. In Hardcore mode, health will not regenerate on its own. You should know the best weapons though, most Battlefield 3 players are very experienced by now so an equal footing is mandatory.
The first and only Light Machine Gun on this list, the M is arguably the best of the bunch with a great damage output. LMGs have a huge utility and dexterity problem, being out-classed by other classes in nearly all situations. If you do have your heart set on an LMG though, the M is the best choice! All sniper rifles are very satisfying to use without having huge skill-floors. Accuracy and range are most important for a good marksman rifle, the M98B excels in these areas, making head-shots at all ranges a breeze.
If you are a more mobile recon player, either the SV98, or the M40A5. M40A5 has the defacto highest fire rate of any bolt-action although lowest bullet velocity , while the SV98 has the best hipfire if you really count on no-scoping. It's a good idea to learn to use either the 3. Finally, with any bolt-action sniper, do NOT under ANY circumstance use the flashlight as an attachment instead of laser sight.
If you run into an enemy in close quarters, you are dead meat if you rely on your sniper rifle to kill him with a second shot, which is optimistic considering the lousy hipfire accuracy which the laser sight helps greatly on. In terms of semi-auto snipers, it's a bit more difficult to say. What is the best gun in bf3? What is the best modern weapon?
Is the M4A1 or M13 better?
