For example I wish I were a millionaire. Also wish is used more in emotional contexts, like I wish you were mine, because I love you. For example I want a new computer. You could say I want you to be mine but it would likely to be considered emotionally detached, as in I want you to be mine, because you are rich.
It might be considered very direct rather than detached, depending on the circumstances. I can see it being either romantic or more likely creepy. When a person wants something, they work really hard to achieve what they have in mind.
The more you think about that, the better the results will be. When you wish for something, it includes a whiff of desire. But if you really want something, you will put in that extra effort to push things to the next level so that you can enjoy life.
It is indeed important to have a wish or wishes but at the same time always remember this, in order to transform a wish to reality, you need to do something about it. I admire her. One statement of hers particularly resonated with me. It concerned people who write to her asking for advice, saying they want to change their lives too, but lack motivation. Or, even more accurately, of competing desires.
